Nagpur Police Organize Special Camp to Address Concerns of Senior Citizens

On January 4, 2025, as part of the Maharashtra Police Raising Week-2025, the Nagpur City Police organized a Senior Citizens’ Grievance Redressal Camp at the Police Bhavan Auditorium. This initiative, conceptualized by Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, aimed to address grievances under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, while providing essential legal guidance.

Key Highlights of the Camp

The event featured Advocate Manish Gupta and his team, who briefed attendees on the key provisions of the Act, clarifying legal rights and available remedies for senior citizens. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Patil inaugurated the session, highlighting the camp’s purpose and summarizing the Act’s importance in supporting senior citizens.Commissioner Singal emphasized the value of resources such as the Bharosa Cell and police helplines (112 and 100) in addressing issues faced by the elderly. He took the time to personally interact with attendees, gaining insight into their concerns. Additionally, Suresh Bagde from the Senior Citizens’ Grievance Authority explained the procedures for claiming maintenance benefits, further empowering participants with knowledge.

Community Engagement and Participation

The event witnessed participation from senior police officials, including Joint Commissioner Nisar TamboliAdditional CP Pramod Shewale, and Shivajirao Rathod, alongside Zonal DCPs and Station House Officers. Notably, Commissioner Singal’s parents also attended, with his father, Zil Singal, sharing motivational advice on leading a positive life.The camp successfully registered 24 grievances, resolving three on the spot. The Bharosa Cell, under the leadership of Inspector Seema Surve, effectively managed the event, ensuring smooth operations under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Sanjay Patil.This initiative underscores the commitment of the Nagpur City Police to support and empower senior citizens within the community.
