Nagpur is poised for a significant transformation in public safety with the approval of the Crime Search Project by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) in collaboration with BSNL. This advanced, AI-driven crime monitoring system is designed to enhance real-time crime management, but its successful implementation now depends on the city police.During a high-level meeting chaired by Additional Commissioner Vaishnavi B, officials from NMC, BSNL, and the Smart City initiative confirmed that all necessary infrastructure is in place. “We are 100% prepared.
Everything is ready. This project will redefine how Nagpur addresses crime,” Vaishnavi stated in an interview with Lokmat Times. The system, already proven effective in Pune and Nashik, will incorporate hundreds of CCTV cameras, AI tools for facial recognition, predictive policing, and real-time alerts—all connected through BSNL’s secure, high-speed fiber-optic network. It is designed to deliver a 40% faster police response, immediate offender identification, traffic violation monitoring, and GPS-linked police vehicles.Three control centers are set to operate from the NMC HQ, Police HQ, and the Smart City Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC). However, the police must take action to activate this transformative network.
The Crime Search Project offers more than just CCTV; it establishes a comprehensive crime-fighting ecosystem featuring 99.99% uptime, military-grade encryption, 180-day cloud video storage, and multi-language alert systems. The integration of drones and body cameras will further enhance real-time situational awareness. If the police delay in initiating this system, Nagpur risks missing out on a vital tool that could safeguard over 2.5 million citizens and set a national standard in smart policing. Nagpur is ready; now it’s time for the police to step up. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us. If you have anything to share, do comment below and share your thoughts.
