Jharkhand Students Demand Fair Exams, New Date for JSSC CGL After Alleged Paper Leak

JSSC CGL aspirants take to social media, stage protests after exam postponement due to suspected leak

Aspirants for the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam have launched a campaign on social media, demanding a new exam date and fair conduct of the process. The original exam, scheduled for February 4, 2024, was postponed amidst reports of a paper leak involving the General Knowledge section.

Following the postponement, students gathered in protest outside the state library in Ranchi, with similar demonstrations taking place across other districts. Their key demands include the announcement of a new JSSC CGL exam date for 2024, the declaration of pending results, the conduct of the Jharkhand police constable exam, and a thorough investigation into the alleged paper leak by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The movement has garnered support from prominent figures, including former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi. He took to social media (formerly Twitter) to criticize the state government, stating, “In the last four years, the thugbandhan government of Jharkhand has only cheated and tricked the youth… Making irregularities in competitive examinations has become the identity of Jharkhand government.”

Candidates have expressed their frustration and disappointment online. One user wrote, “JSSC-CGL exam should be conducted as soon as possible. Students have become frustrated after waiting for the last 8 years. Chief Minister should take another decision and create hope in the minds of the future of Jharkhand.”

Another user highlighted the concerns of the youth, stating, “Soren changed, Champai came, But when will the fate of the youth change? … If you do not provide employment to the youth, is it not playing with the future of the country??”

The JSSC CGL paper leak incident and subsequent postponement have sparked significant student unrest, urging the authorities to ensure transparency and fairness in the recruitment process. As the campaign continues to gain momentum, it remains to be seen when the JSSC will announce a new exam date and address the students’ concerns effectively.
