The Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Park in Nagpur is all set to host a lively celebration of Wildlife Week from October 2 to October 8, following guidelines from the Central Zoological Authority. The week-long event aims to raise awareness about wildlife conservation through a variety of engaging and interactive activities designed for visitors of all ages.
The festivities will kick off on October 2 with an inauguration ceremony, accompanied by a cleanliness drive and a photography contest themed “Wildlife of Gorewada Zoo.”Throughout the week, visitors can participate in wildlife awareness sessions, vaccination drives for rabies and cattle, and creative contests such as drawing and rangoli competitions. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy special activities like a butterfly walk and birdwatching trails.
One of the standout events is the “Zoo-keeper for a Day” experience, specially crafted for children to get a hands-on understanding of zoo life.Additionally, the zoo has planned outreach programs in nearby schools and a plantation drive to promote environmental stewardship.
Winners of various contests will receive prizes totaling up to ₹11,000, while all participants will be honored with certificates of appreciation.The week of celebrations will conclude on October 8 with a valedictory ceremony and prize distribution, marking the successful completion of this awareness initiative at Gorewada Zoo.
