CM Devendra Fadnavis Honors City Artists for Stunning Wall Art

On Sunday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis felicitated the winners of the ‘Rang De Nagpur’ wall painting competition, organized by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) as part of its Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.The competition attracted an overwhelming response from artists across Maharashtra, who transformed city walls into vibrant canvases over two days. The winners were awarded cash prizes totaling several lakh rupees.
The Chief Minister personally praised the artists for their creativity and their significant role in beautifying the city.The contest featured two categories: students (18 years and above) and professionals. Artists from Nagpur, Mumbai, Thane, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Wardha participated. Out of 118 entries, 92 groups qualified under NMC’s themes, with nearly 300 artists painting across the city’s streets.
Student artists showcased their work on Sundarlal Rai (NEERI) Road near Deekshabhoomi, while professionals displayed theirs on the walls of Freedom Park, Sitabuldi. Leading contributions came from students at the Government College of Art, Nagpur, Natraj Art and Culture College, and Government College of Art, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
The event was attended by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister Atul Save, Minister of State Ashish Jaiswal, MPs, MLAs, and senior civic and district officials, including Municipal Commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari and District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar.Winners in both student and professional categories received prizes ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹1.25 lakh.
