₹37 Lakh Fraud: Youth Duped with Fake Government Job Promises in Nagpur

In a disturbing scam uncovered recently, unemployed youth in Nagpur were cheated out of ₹37 lakhs through false promises of government jobs. The case is currently registered at Gittikhadan Police Station, raising concerns over such fraudulent schemes targeting vulnerable job seekers.The accused, Roshan Ashok Khode, 45, a resident of Nandanvan Colony, Katol Marg, posed as the Deputy Director of a reputed state-level educational institute. Exploiting this fake identity, Khode advertised job openings across various government sectors including MSEB, railways, and health services.
Believing his claims, numerous unemployed candidates submitted their educational documents and paid hefty sums for “guaranteed” placements. To build trust, Khode arranged meetings with victims at upscale venues such as star hotels and professional offices, creating an illusion of legitimacy.Among those duped were Amol Jibhkate, who paid ₹13.25 lakhs; Bhujangrao Muley, who gave ₹6 lakhs; Dinesh Barkade, ₹5 lakhs; and Kavita Naik, who also paid a substantial amount.
Altogether, Khode amassed ₹37 lakhs from these individuals, issuing fake appointment letters as proof of employment.When no jobs materialized even after weeks passed, the victims realized they had fallen prey to a scam and reported the matter to the police. Following their complaints, Khode has been booked under serious charges of cheating and forgery. The police investigation is currently ongoing, aiming to bring the accused to justice and prevent further frauds.
